5 Principles to Retain Your Hifz and Never Forget
First: revision matters more than adding. A single memorised and consolidated page is better than pages memorised then forgotten. Give each day a share of revision before the new.
Second: the right amount. An individual plan that respects the student's capacity prevents burnout and despair; consistency on a little beats intensity on a lot.
Third: linking and understanding. Understanding the meaning of the verses aids memorisation and gives it depth, rather than mere repetition.
Fourth: recite in prayer. Repeating what you have memorised within your prayers is among the strongest and most blessed means of retention.
Fifth: follow-up and reports. A teacher who follows up, tests and records progress turns hifz from a struggling solo effort into an organised journey towards completion.
